J Bar Braunvieh calved our 1st Braunvieh influenced calves in 1996. A heifer born that year is still in the herd and has her 13th calf at her side right now. Our focus has always been to breed fertile, efficient, maternal cattle that would be offered as bred heifers or young pairs. We have black and polled Braunviehs, percentages and purebreds available that have been bred up from a herd of black Gelbvieh commercial cows. These cows were developed through carcass testing for the Gelbvieh association. These genetics will add hybrid vigor to an Angus based herd.

We keep data on each individual calf in our herd from conception to consumption. DNA genetic testing for feed efficiency and tenderness on our herd bulls has greatly enhanced the slow process of generational improvements. Our bulls are gained tested and sonogramed with data available upon request. We have had much success in the San Antonio Livestock Show, Houston Livestock Show and TCFA Beef Challenge carcass calves, with top honors in each show. Our cattle will work in all phases of the industry, from the pasture through the feed yard or the natural grass finished beef program to the consumer. We also have show prospects available.
