Tom started hunting quail in Texas in the mid 80's and fell in love with that country. He grew up and lived in New Orleans all his life. He always loved the west and the notion of being a cowboy and it became a reality in 2000. He purchased a section of land in Hall county, built a hunting lodge, and spent as much time there as his dental practice allowed. He trained bird dogs and hunted them, too. After a couple of years, his neighbor asked to let their cattle graze on his property because it was becoming overgrown; he encouraged him to buy a few cows, and that is how he stumbled into raising cattle. Their herd was small and nothing special--just a way to keep their grass under control. Then, in 2008 he met John Hall and he saw HIS set of Braunvieh cows. He said, "He was in awe." Within a year, Tom had sold all his other cattle and converted his program to this beautiful breed. He said, "I fell in love with their look, and the more I learned, the more I liked them."
In 2011, health issues convinced him it was time to retire from 47 year practice of dentistry and that passion was replaced with raising Braunvieh cattle. He had mostly purebreds until just recently when he was drawn to concentrating on full bloods. Using DNA and pedigreed stock, he wants to raise the best of the best.
In addition to raising these gentle, beautiful cattle, Cindy and Tom enjoy cooking, gardening, building projects and traveling. Tom and Cindy stated, "Our friends and family are always welcome and we love sharing our little piece of Panhandle Cajun heaven with them."
